One Woman’s Quest to Love A Prostitute Transformed Her Whole Life

Dominque set off with her friend Mary in what she thought would be just another average service project in her village in Rwanda. Instead, she found herself serving alongside Mary in an HIV/AIDs clinic. Dominque met a woman who shared about her past as a prostitute – destitute, scared, and now facing the terrifying reality of HIV/AIDS in utter poverty.

Dominique’s heart and passion were ignited. She sought out direction from the Holy Spirit on how to help women like these. She enrolled in African Leadership Rwanda’s education program and found her answer in her final course: Mission, Evangelism, and Discipleship. There she learned strategies for approaching others with the love of Christ and could begin to envision a program to care well for the hurting and broken within her community. The freedom and opportunity that Dominique discovered in her education didn’t stop just with her.

Within a few months, Dominque launched Hozana Ministries. Not long after launching, she had grown her program to working with a group of 40 women. Women whose lives on the street were marked with trauma and hardship. Forty women and their children found a haven in Hozana Ministries. They celebrated the end of 2021 by baptizing 26 of these mothers. Spiritual, emotional, and physical freedom for so many families and new believers was made possible by Dominque’s faithfulness to follow the Holy Spirit – wherever He was leading.

Now, actively teaching the love of God, emotional healing, sewing, and small business, Dominque is transforming the lives of not just these 40 women and their children, but the community surrounding them. In her words,… “We started to teach them sewing and braiding activities, in order to help them to get means of supporting their life and their children without selling their bodies.”

This is the life changing impact one can have among many. It’s the power of the Gospel where Love is valued above all and freedom is offered to all who believe.
