Trust over Titles

We often equate leadership with position, but real influence is built in relationship. In communities across Uganda, trust - not authority - is what restores, reconciles, and leads to lasting change. Watch and read below to hear Gabrielโ€™s legacy.

Trust over Titlesโ€ โ€

In many communities across Uganda, leadership is present, but trust is missing. Structures exist, but transformation is slow. This is where the work beganโ€”raising leaders whose authority does not come from titles, but from trust. We realized something important:

People donโ€™t follow titles for long. They follow lives they can trust.

In October 2025, the burial of a respected pastor should have been a moment of unity. Instead, it became a moment of tension. What began as a disagreement between a wife and a motherโ€”both carrying deep griefโ€”quickly spread beyond the family. Cultural expectations, long-standing frustrations, and even regional political tensions became entangled. Community leaders gathered. Positions were defended. Titles were invoked. But trust was missing.

Gabriel did not come with power. Gabriel came with patience. He did not arrive with demands or authority that forced resolution. Instead, he came with something far more powerful: relationship. He sat with the family. He listenedโ€”to the wifeโ€™s pain, to the motherโ€™s grief, to the elders, to the leaders. He stayed long enough to understand what others had only tried to solve.

And slowly, something changed.

Walls softened. Voices lowered. Conversations replaced conflict. The family reconciled. And for the first time, even political leaders who had refused to speak sat down at one table.

What brought change was not a position of authority.

It was trust.

What is happening here in Uganda is not isolated. Across Africa, communities are hungry for trustworthy leadership. Leadership structures may exist, but without trust, they rarely lead to lasting transformation. People follow leaders whose lives they know, whose character they trust, and whose presence proves their commitment.

Through this work, leaders are being equipped, not just with skills, but with character, accountability, and presence. And when trust is built at the local level, it does more than resolve conflict. It restores families, strengthens communities, and influences regions.

We have seen what is possible when trust leads.

But many communities are still waiting.

With your support, we can expand this work - training more leaders, restoring more communities, and building a future grounded in trust.

Titles may command attention, but trust transforms lives. Join us.

๐Ÿ“ South Africa

South Africa is in a tense moment as a national commission investigates fraud among high-ranking police officers, exposing deep issues that could impact the countryโ€™s security. At the same time, rising gang violence has led to the army being deployed into communities in an effort to restore order. Compounding this, an ongoing oil crisis is creating economic pressure that is being felt across every level of society.

In the midst of this, Allan and his wife Lorraine are doing well, and God has kept Allan safe through recent travels. This weekend presents a meaningful opportunity as Allan will be preaching at services led by former students - moments that could open the door for many to hear the Word.

๐Ÿ“ Ethiopia

In southwestern Ethiopia, Asrat recently led a regional teacher fellowship, gathering 43 teachers for a time of encouragement, training, and connection. The gathering concluded with a graduation ceremony, marking it as a fruitful and encouraging trip.

However, daily life is becoming more difficult due to a severe fuel shortage. With supply limited and heavily rationed, people are often required to wait an entire day just to access fuel. Despite these challenges, Asratโ€™s family is doing well, and their Easter celebrations held on April 12th went well! There is also gratitude that African Leadership graduates in Dubai remain safe, in the midst of ongoing war in the Middle East.

๐Ÿ“ Democratic Republic of Congo

In eastern Congo, there are small but hopeful signs of progress as movement begins between government forces and rebel groups. There is prayerful anticipation that these early steps could lead to meaningful agreement in the days ahead. At the same time, life continues amid uncertainty.

Jeremie has been investing in students who are preparing for graduation, encouraging them to remain focused and hopeful. The Kibumba agriculture project has been a tangible source of encouragement, with anticipation building for an upcoming harvest of potatoes and beans. There is also hope for graduations to take place soon in South Kivu and around Goma, along with possible travel to Rubaya - a region that has recently experienced drone attacks but is now considered safe again.
