July 2013 Prayer Calendar “And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” (James 5:15-17)
Monday 1: This month, please join us in praying that the Lord would continue placing His mighty hand on the work of African Leadership, spreading His Gospel through pastors and leaders across Africa.
Tuesday 2: Please pray for our National Directors throughout Africa as they come alongside the teachers and trainers of our Leadership Development program in 23 countries. “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.” (Colossians 4:2-4)
Wednesday 3: Please pray for the Lizulu Orphan Care program which serves 500 orphans with food, medical care, schooling, clothing, toiletries, & transportation.
Thursday 4: As we in the USA celebrate our independence today, please pray for Africa as a nation to be able to move away from aid dependence.
Saturday 6: Praise God for raising up Gamal Gerges, our National Director in Egypt, who has started 11 Leadership Development classes with 194 students since the fall of 2013!
Sunday 7: Please pray for our brothers and sisters in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the political climate has become volatile and is causing much devastation. Pray for African Leadership’s National Director Denis Hangi serving in the city of Kitchanga as clashes between government troops and rebels have recently displaced thousands.
Monday 8: Praise God for Asrat Birhau, our National Director in Ethiopia. Please pray for him as he leads the men and women in our Leadership Development Program there.
Tuesday 9: Please pray that God would supply the funding needed to get a Bible into the hands of each African believer, drastically improving the statistic that only one in six Christians in Africa own a Bible.
Wednesday 10: Please pray for Irene Tongoi, the founder of New Dawn Kenya, and her staff as they serve children in the Huruma slum of Nairobi.
Thursday 11: Praise God for Tito Iranga Oturo as he continues to courageously serve communities throughout the world’s newest country, South Sudan. Please pray for ongoing funding to bless his work there.
Friday 12: Please lift up African Leadership’s President John Walter in prayer as he and his family settle into their new hometown of Franklin, TN.
Saturday 13: Pray for the children who attend the Adziwa Christian Primary School in Malawi, many of them orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Pray that they would know the love of their heavenly Father.
Sunday 14: Praise God that all of the electricity powering the New Dawn Educational Centre is now coming from solar panels and batteries donated by a company in Eastern Pennsylvania.
Monday 15: Please pray for the women being ministered to at Ellilta: Women at Risk in Ethiopia. Praise God for program director Cherry Friedmeyer and her dedication to holistic rehabilitation.
Tuesday 16: Pray for God’s encouragement and strength for all the students in our Leadership Development programs throughout Africa, many of whom have full time jobs and families to care for while attending classes.
Wednesday 17: Please pray for the financial support needed to implement new programs the Lord has put on the hearts of the African Leadership staff.
Thursday 18: Please pray for the many men and women in Africa infected with HIV/AIDS, that they may get the treatment and counseling needed to live healthy lives. Pray for the Heritage Kenya Organization and the Living Hope Health Care Center that minister to HIV/AIDS patients in a variety of ways.
Saturday 20: Please pray that God would raise up donors to cover the shipping costs of much needed medical supplies to Ethiopia.
Sunday 21: Please pray this scripture for all of us at African Leadership in the US and Africa … “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:23-25)
Monday 22: Praise God for Candido Mafumo, Mozambique’s National Director, as he ministers to the men and women through our Leadership Development programs. Please pray for his family, especially his wife who has been ill.
Tuesday 23: Please pray for unity and clarity for the US African Leadership staff, that we may serve God well in all we do.
Wednesday 24: Please pray for our Community Development team as they work to add Trauma Healing programs to our Leadership Development training.
Thursday 25: Praise God for The Mocha Club, which raises support for African Leadership’s Community Development programs.
Friday 26: Praise God for all those who graciously support African Leadership through prayer and funding.
Saturday 27: Please pray for our National Directors as Jesus prayed for His disciples: “My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.” (John 17:15-18)
Monday 29: Praise God for the Lizulu Water Project that supplies clean water to the school and village of Lizulu in Malawi.
Tuesday 30: Praise God for Jonathan Titus-Williams who serves as National Director in the country of Sierra Leone. Please pray for strength as he serves those in our Leadership Development program there.
Wednesday 31: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)
