BRINGING HOPE TO THE FAMILY
Bringing Hope to the Family is a community-based organization operating in Kaihura, Uganda. BHTTF was started in 2000 and is run by Faith Kunihira. Faith broke out of the cycle of poverty and returned to help the village she grew up in. Bringing Hope to the Family exists to provide care and support, restore hope, and improve the quality of life of families and communities affected by HIV/AIDS, poverty and disaster.
Bringing Hope to the Family runs several programs: Home Again Orphanage, which is home to over 70 children; Hope Academy and Dorcas Vocational School, which serves the children in and around Kaihura who could not otherwise attend school; Action Farm, an agricultural project that grows food to support the orphanage and school, trains locals on better farming practices, and generates income for BHTTF; Village Art, which consists of a café, salon, bridal boutique, and shop that sells handmade goods, all to generate income for BHTTF; and Hope Again Medical Clinic, which serves over 350 patients a month with services ranging from emergency needs to long-term AIDS care.
